About

Evette Brown - naturopath - Torquay, Australia

I'm Evette, a unique naturopath. Let me give you some background. I have a Bachelor of Health Science - Naturopathy. In 2007 I completed my studies at the Australian College of Natural Medicine (ACNM) in Melbourne, Victoria. I am registered with the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS). My career in the health industry has spanned since 2001.

Currently, I am working and located in beautiful Torquay, Surf Coast region outside of Melbourne. I still remember my true roots though, of growing up in Darwin, Northern Territory. You don't get more Australian than that. It made me appreciate and respect the bush, nature and animals.

Why did I become a naturopath? I was struggling with my own health issues in my mid-twenties, with food allergies, infections and countless prescriptions of antibiotics. Pushed to seek alternative therapies, I found myself seeing a naturopath and homoeopath for treatment. As much as my symptoms were improving, they were not completely resolving. I threw myself into my own research of the body and alternative therapies and just kept going, eventually leading me to Melbourne and enrolling in the Naturopathy degree. I had a desire so strong that I could feel better and help others.

Clinical Naturopathy BHSc

Naturopathy is nature's medicine for the whole being that encompasses herbs, nutrients, flower essences, food, and homeopathy. The foundation of naturopathy is about listening to your body and learning the value of convalescence so that your body can deal and heal itself given the time and patience that is required.

A health science degree in Naturopathy, not only teaches how to prepare and dispense herbal preparations, nutritional medicines and formulate personalized dietary prescriptions but also knowledge of anatomy & physiology; human disease processes; and pharmacology.

Specializing in Women's Health and Wellness, I often treat hormonal imbalances and digestive disorders, as well as assisting with common complaints like insomnia and fatigue. I currently have an interest in upper respiratory conditions (sinusitis & rhinitis) and the oral microbiome. Identifying hidden nutritional deficiencies is also key. Working as a clinical naturopath requires detective work, taking a thorough case history, and assessing signs and symptoms.

Why Clinical Prescribing?

You are unique. You have a different landscape from everyone else. Prescribing is unique to your individual landscape: applicable to your needs only. Based on logic, rationale, perception and intuition gained from my clinical experience extending over a decade.
- In naturopathy, there are general protocols to treat illnesses but not everybody responds in the same way. This is why clinical prescribing takes into account all parts of you -
who you are - your constitution type
your family history - genes
the world you live in - environmental exposures
what you eat - intolerances or allergies
how you live - physical activity & social connections
the evidence - pathology
trauma - body or mind
From the information gathered, your treatment plan may include advice, remedies or solutions that aim to -
relieve your symptoms
treat your illness
identify your drivers
with a heart focus on preventive medicine & happiness
