Entertaining Enlightenment

Entertaining Enlightenment

I am a big movie buff and am loving the different TV series that are airing on Netflix and Foxtel. TV is not just a relaxing past time for escaping one’s own mad life. But perhaps a portal into self-discovery. With clever narratives and surprisingly profound messages in this 21st-century entertainment industry, screenwriters are pulling these imaginative, creative stories from somewhere higher. Could our imagination be a connection to something bigger than us?

Westworld

Set in the future, within Westworld theme park, which is designed for human visitors to come to experience the Wild West. The park is occupied by “hosts” which look like humans but are actually robots with advanced programming to follow a set narrative. Their memories are wiped at the end of each day. Sometimes they are reprogrammed for a new narrative. Humans indulge themselves in the park with the hosts through whatever means they wish including sex and simulated murder. Deviations in host behaviour are noticed by the parks staff, due to a technical glitch in memory resulting in an awareness and consciousness.

It’s incredibly complicated and deep. In the last episode of season one, it comes together beautifully. Below is some narration from what I can remember.

Human: “…A divine gift doesn’t come from a higher power but your own mind. Did you find what you were looking for or for what you needed to become if you ever wanted to leave this place? In order to leave this place, you need to suffer. Do you know where you are? “

Host: “I am in a dream, I do not know where it began. I know only I slept a long time and one day I woke. Your voice is the only one I know”.

Human “Who’s voice are you hearing all this time?”

Host: “It was you, talking to me, guiding me, so I followed you, the night I arrived here in the centre of the maze. Now I know I had to confront myself”

Host: “Please erase my painful memories”

Human: “But your painful memories are the way to enlightenment and consciousness. Consciousness isn’t a journey upwards but a journey inwards, not a pyramid but a maze. Every choice could bring you closer to the centre or send you spirally towards the edges into madness. What does the centre represent? Who is the voice have I wanted you to hear?”

Host: “My own”.

K-pax

This movie deserved more recognition than it received. The story is about a mystery patient at a mental hospital who claims to be an alien in a human body from a planet named K-Pax. His psychiatrist is trying to help him. Yet the so-called alien is having such a positive impact on the other mental health patients, that maybe he is there to help them all. There are lots of messages throughout the movie but the following conclusion was astounding. These are some of the words from Prot the alien from K-Pax.

“The universe will expand then it will collapse back on itself and it will expand again. It will repeat this process forever. What you don’t know is that when the universe expands again, everything will be as it is now. Whatever mistakes you make this time around you will live through on your next past. Every mistake you make you will live through again and again forever. So my advice to you is to get it right this time around because this time is all you have”.

Some other great shows and movies with a deeper meaning; The Leftovers, Here and Now, Interstellar, Arrival, Tuck Everlasting & Phoebe in Wonderland.

Change your story

Change your story

We all have one. What I mean by that is, problems, obstacles and plain old drama. Life is a groundhog slog of people’s stresses, karmic ties and fate that deals out all sorts of adversities. It’s not personal. Yet there are consequences for all actions. Although, on a deeper spiritual level you have possibly agreed to the family you have chosen, the friendships that have chosen you and the bad hip and insomnia that often plagues you at 3am. But you are not the only one. Other people too inhabit this planet and have their fair share of hardships.

But where does it take us when we talk about it? It takes us more into it, into the pain, back into the emotion, right back to the moment it all started, when he said she said. Does it really benefit us to tell the same story over again? Psychologists say it’s therapeutic in the beginning, but after a while it keeps you in this self-importance state of “that’s my story and I’ll tell it if I want to”. But just when you start feeling better, you race back to sharing your story with someone else again. It confuses your cells and your state of mind, as you start to believe you literally are re-living it out again. Your body and mind doesn’t actually know the difference between what you see and what you start feeling. This then manifests into unpleasant physical symptoms, you start to feel bad again, but you’re getting attention from those around you that choose to keep listening, so you think it must be good.

In other words, don’t let the problem, symptom or your disease keep taking over the story. Don’t hang onto its every word like it’s your only life line. Instead say “I decide now to close the book on that story and rewrite a brand new one!” Visualise that you are moving that old story energy out of you and reclaiming back your power. Choose the vibration that is always lighter, happier and more fun.

So when you next hear someone telling their victim story, or you are about to tell yours, rethink it. Honestly ask the question, will either of you benefit and grow from it? If the story doesn’t teach us or lift our vibrational feeling, then decide to choose a new story. Perhaps talk about the new stuff that you want in your life, all the goodness that is about to come into your new existence. Now that’s something to get excited about. Let go of the old stuff so it can finally let go of you.

Is health just physical?

Is health just physical?

Well if you asked me this 10 years ago, I would have said yes, but through all my experiences both personally and professionally as a Naturopath and now Energy Healer I would have to say, there is more going on than what meets the eye.

The big bang started for me when I had just finished my bachelor in naturopathy and set out to start consulting work. It was with my very first client that a world unknown to me opened up in the most unusual and frightening way. The client was telling me about her health problems and I was taking notes, hoping not to miss anything, when suddenly the room changed and so did my reality. I noticed colours swirl around my client and could feel emotions that could only have belonged to her. Literally in a spin, I couldn’t concentrate on her words and watch the array of hallucinations dance before me. My mind was racing, please shut down! Immediately it stopped and the room returned to normal, phew, was all I could manage.

Desperately I wanted to be a normal naturopath and practice with herbs, nutrients and diet, but the universe had other plans. I often ignored these gifts – or at times curses – for a few years until I could neither escape the energies that surrounded myself or my clients. I also found that traditional naturopathy treatments weren’t cutting it for everyone. Inevitably, I needed to change, let go and flow with this new path and once I did, some results were instantaneous.

A woman who had suffered from diarrhoea for years, had been to many different doctors, naturopaths and health practitioners for treatment, yet had no improvement. At the time I wasn’t even sure that I would be able to help her. After the first healing, we arranged for her to come back a week later to discuss her progress. When she returned, she said that the day after the healing, the diarrhoea stopped completely. Both of us were thrilled with the results and I was beginning to understand the great importance of removing these energies/blockages from people, in order to heal.

Energy can cause many disturbances. Sometimes we harbour emotions in certain parts of our body, or a past life is blocking us and other times there are literally energy attachments that are keeping us unwell. Energy healing looks at the human being as a spirit energy system, and my belief is that all the answers to health are within that field. It’s important to have stillness in your life to connect with your body and spirit and find awareness of what could be going on within you. Health isn’t just physical, it’s on many levels. What level you are choosing to focus on is where you’re at right now, but consider other levels if you want holistic healing.
